I have received several emails about “Operation Price Check” since I started the project December 13th. Many of you say that you can’t get the store to honor their own policy and give you an item free if they overcharge you.
Here’s my MO: Instead of trying to watch the register like a hawk and catch each price as the checker scans it- just wait for the receipt. Before you leave the store, review your receipt. If there are any overcharges, go straight to the customer service booth and tell them that because you were overcharged, you would like a refund for the item that rang up incorrectly. If the employee refuses, ask for the manager. If the manager refuses, write down their name on your receipt. Circle the items that rang up too high and call me.
To date, I have been overcharged $18.34. I have been refunded $49.89. Remember, all of the money refunded will go to the Houston Food Bank.
