Texas hands out violation notices to Contractors after Ike

We’re still hearing from you about your problems with contractors hired to clean up and make repairs after Hurricane Ike. Today I got an email from the Texas Residential Construction Commission about all of the violation notices it has sent out to contractors working in our area.

According to the TRCC, all remodelers and builders that do work valued at more than $10,000 must register with the Commission. They ensure that companies are insured and can also act as an intermediary if something goes wrong with a project.  The companies listed above failed to register with the TRCC.

To be fair, TRCC has been criticized recently for not doing enough to help consumers with bad builders and remodelers.  The Sunset Advisory Commission recently recommended the state dismantle the whole agency.  You can read that report here: trcc_hm1
